I guess my first introduction to the Motorhoming Life was in 1993 when I acquired a second hand Swift Capri. We had a wonderful time touring around the UK and northern France and I also used it as a “Mobile Office” for my consultancy business.
Before then, my earliest memory of camping was watching my Dad effortlessly erect a three man canvas tent with oilskin groundsheet and three piece wooden tent poles. We had fold up canvas camp beds and an enormous pile of blankets and eiderdowns! We lived in Ravenglass and it was a very short journey to Eskdale, Wastewater and Buttermere.
One my of favourite vans was an ex painter & decorator’s Volkswagen T5 that I converted into a “One Man and his Dog” campervan. I thoroughly enjoyed my early retirement travelling around the UK and especially Scotland where I bumped into my wife Christine! We had some great times in “Bianca” but it was a bit wee for two people, two dogs and a collection of shoes.
Our current motorhome is “Daisy” an Autotrail Dakota which was funded by trading in Bianca and adding a fair chunk of my pension fund! We bought her from BC Motorhomes in Ayr in September 2014 and, so far, we’ve managed over 15,000 miles of laughter and adventure!
